RQS HeadlineMaker
Unicode Character Character Access

Some fonts in the library have many characters that are tricky to get at. RQS HeadlineMaker allows you to access these characters by using a Unicode accessor command. Let's say you wanted to put a copyright symbol "©" in your headline. The RQS HeadlineMaker unicode access for the copyright symbol is [u:a9]. Often, that code will get you the copyright symbol in the current font - but sometimes a font does not have the requested character available. One solution is to switch to a font that has the symbol you need. This window contains a character map for the Lucida Sans Unicode font (Scroll to see it) and shows the characters available in that font. Above each character is the code to type into the Text field of RQS HeadlineMaker to get the character.

Example:
The Lucida Sans Unicode font has lots of different symbols, including a couple of happy faces. If we wanted to put one of those (Unicode 263A) on a headline we could do the following...
1. Enter the the command (highlighted in bold) into the RQS HeadlineMaker Text field:

[BG:FFFF00][f:12]Headline[u:263a]

2. Click on the Font command, select the "+" sign, and choose Lucida Sans Unicode from the font menu. The Selector shows all unicode characters as a "+" sign.

3. Results:

NOTE: In order for the unicode character to be rendered correctly, you must set the font for the character appropriately. Changing the font for a character in the middle of a headline will affect the characters that follow the unicode character, so don't forget to switch the font back.

Also note that some fonts will display a box in place of a character they do not have while some fonts ignore the missing character and display nothing.
